Manual Submission vs. Automatic vs. Custom Promotion
There are basically three ways to go about promoting your website URL with search
engines.
Manual website promotion requires
that you visit each search engine site individually and fill out the required information
for that search engine. It was for this form of website promotion that Submit Away's
free website promotion resources was initially created for. That process however can and
does take hours, even days depending on how many search engines you wish your website URL
to be registered with and how detailed the information you submit is. (and you want to be
listed everywhere right? You competition probably is!).
The other method of website promotion is to have your
website URL automatically submitted to all of these search engines, links sites, index,
etc. This is done by visiting an "Auto-Submit
URL" site. These website promotion resources have a URL registration form
which you must complete. This form asks you for promotional information such as
keywords, description, website title, services offered, etc. The forms are fairly complete
and do a fair job at representing the information required by the hundreds of search
engines and directories out there. They then submit your URL to the many search
engines in their data base automatically.
| NOTE: It is
Submit Away!'s opinion that you should NEVER EVER pay for simple submit
services! You CAN, and
depending on your experience and budget probably SHOULD pay for expert custom
website promotion, preparation, AND submittal of your web site, but NEVER
to simply have some company submit your URL to 100 or so sites.
Why not?
Because even if you opt not to pay for a custom website promotion package like Submit
Away! there are many Auto-Submit services which
will simply submit your URL to as many search engines, directories, indexes, and free for
all link type sites as you could possibly want for absolutely FREE! They
will NOT optimize your site for you, but they WILL submit it at no charge.
There are a lot of companies which will charge
$50.00-$200.00 to do nothing more than submit your website URL "un-seen" to a
couple of hundred sites or so. That is NOT website promotion! Don't do it! It
is one of the biggest rip-offs going in our opinion. It preys upon the uninitiated
with perceptions of great value (We will place your site in 100 engines for only
$100.00! Wow!).
IF you are confident your site is
ready for submission, skip these charlatans and go to the few auto website URL submit
sites which will do it for free! |
Okay. So where were we.
Auto-Submit sites. Pretty cool huh? All that for free! Wow!
There is a hitch however. Even though these
Auto-Submit sites go to great pains to ensure their initial website promotion fill in form
is complete, they inevitably miss something. There are SO many search engines and
directories that have completely different request criteria, it would be impossible to get
them all.
Here is an example: Lets say your
promoting a website for a Chiropractic center. The auto submit form you filled out
asked you to choose a category for your site before you started submitting. They did
not have "Chiropractic" but they did have health and medicine. Good enough
right? Wrong. Many of the sites your website URL are being submitted to may
have those two categories split up. Where does your site wind up? Usually
under a category titled "miscellaneous". Worse, it could be ignored
altogether. Even if it is not ignored and is placed under say
"health". Suppose under health, this search engine has a directory titled
"Chiropractors". You won't be listed there because the Auto-submit form
did not offer you that option.
Beginning to see the problem?
"(Heavy Sigh) So...it looks like I will have to
dispose of my social life for a week or so and do it the hard way right?"
Not necessarily. There is a compromise.
There are a couple of Auto-submit sites out there who will
offer you the standard main form, but then, during the course of submitting your site,
will ALSO inform you of search engines or directories where you might want to offer a
little more detail on your URL.
This compromise has a small price as well though. It
is more comprehensive than simple "Auto-submit" deals, but takes longer.
Maybe not as long as doing it completely manually, but certainly long enough.
There is one more way as well. Custom

promotion. Listing your URLs in 100 search engines just is not enough. It must
